  Example to calculate feed speed
 
  1.) The average chip thickness (Sz) for along the grain in solid wood = 0.2 to 0.8mm.If we take 0.5mm the result will be as follows:  
 
 
Feed speed (U) = 0.5(Sz) x 3 (Z=wings) x 6000 (rpm)

Result = 9 m/min feed rate

If you do the same with a 0.8 chip the result would be:
